Cultural Diversity (Part 2)

I know that I have all ready done cultural diversity previously, but I was informed that I was missing a couple of questions. So here goes….

-What’s a positive and negative stereotype? Technically, there really isn’t a positive or negative stereotype. As I have mentioned, a stereotype is a popular belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. The concepts of “steretype” and “prejudice” are often confused with many different meanings. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions nof groups based on some prior assumptions.

-What do you think of stereotypes? Explain why. Sstereotyps do not apply to every single African American. I think that stereotypes are true, but not all though. I think they’re lame honestly. Some stereotypes are not even for real true. People should just do what they want.

-What are good thngs about Americans, Hindus, Latinos, Middle East and Far East people? For Americans, work and trade are respectable by Americans which is not true elsewhere. Americans have achieved greater social equality than any other society. Americans live longer, fuller lives.

Self-Service

• How are stores in Colombia? Colombia stores are the ideal locations for finding a complete range of premium products. The Colombia store environment immerses visitors in their offerings and provides access to more Colombia products than any other single location. Growth has been boosted by richer consumers spending more and some companies’ decision to sell a wider range of non-food products. Rising sales have supported expansion into new markets, new store formats and moves into private label products. However, the economic downturn has set some of these strategies back, this analysis looks at whether grocery retailers will continue to enjoy similar rates of growth in the future.
• What is self-service? Self-Service is the practicing of serving oneself, usually when purchasing items. Common examples may include many gas stations, where the customer pumps their own gas rather than have an attendant do it. Also in American stores, where the customer puts their wanted items in a cart and proceed to the express lane to check out their own items, or maybe at buffet-style restaurant such as Golden Corral where the customer serves their own plate of food from a large, central selection.
• What do you think of self-service, are you in favor or against it? Why? I think that self-service is not a bad idea and I am actually in favor of it. It shows that you are independent and don’t need anybody always doing something for you.

What I Learned and Thought

What you learn on Mr.Nieto’s presentation- I learned that Colombia has many similarities and differences with America.

Write about what you think of Colombia- I think that Colombia is a unique country. I think so because it has so many different foods and types of people. There are so many different religions and animals. There is so much to explore in Colombia and hopefully I’ll get to make a trip there one day.

Write a comparison between Colombia and America-

Religion Christianity Roman

United States vs. Colombia

Have you ever tried to compare your country to another? I haven’t, but my Spanish teacher, Mr.Nieto, brought it to my attention. I’m comparing my home country, United States, to my teacher’s, Colombia. As I researched about the two countries, I realized there were similarities and differences. I would like to inform on you on both of the countries. I would also like to inform you on the similarities and differences. So, if you may, read on.
First, I’m going to tell you about the United States. The United States capital is Washington D.C. The national languages are English and Spanish. The religion of the United States is Christianity. Sports that are played in the USA are as follows: Football, Baseball, Basketball, Marching Bands, Cheerleading, Dancing, Soccer, Track, etc. There are many different types of people. There are Immigrants, Expatriates, and Ambassadors. There are juicy fruit as well. Fruits such as Strawberries, Huckleberries, Blueberries, Cherries, Currants, Gooseberries, Plums, Raspberries,Sumac Berries, Juniper Berries, Hackberries, Elderberries, Hawthorne, Pitaya, Apples, Oranges, Pineapples, Avocados, and so much more. Last, but not least the animals. There are animals like Rabbits, Raccoon, Virginia Opossum, Squirrel, Wood Rat, Chipmunk, Ground Hog, Peacary, Prairie Dog, Skunk, Badger, Beaver, Porcupine, etc. That’s enough about the USA. Let’s talk about Colombia, which brings me to the next paragraph.
Like I said in the previous paragraph, I’m now going to tell you about Colombia. As anyone knows, the capital of Colombia is Bogota’. Colombia’s national language is Spanish and has been for many years. The religion of Colombia is Roman. Sports that are played in Colombia are Soccer, Bullfighting, Auto Racing, Swimming, Dancing, etc. As in the United States, there are many different types of people, but mainly, Campesinos. Don’t get me started on the juicy fruits…..too late. I’m about to tell you about them. There are Lemons, Strawberries, Apples, Avocados, Green Mangoes, Pineapples, Papayas, and so many more. Anyways, last, but not least, the animals. Animals such as Peccaries, Brazilian Tapirs, White-Tailed Deer, Sloths, Nine-Banded, Armadillos, Shrews, Squirrel, Pocket Gophers, Pocket Mice, Tree Porcupines, and so many more types of animals as well.
Now that you got the basics of both countries, here are the similarities and differences of the two countries being compared and contrasted. First, the similarities. Some things that the two countries might have in common are the language because one of the USA’s languages is Spanish and Colombia’s national language is Spanish point blank. I would say that the sports are somewhat the same because they only have some sports in common. The last thing they have in common are the fruits. As far as I know, these are the only things they have in common. Now, let me inform you on the differences which bring me to the next paragraph.
I would say that there are more differences than there are similarities because they are two different countries in two different continents. If you don’t believe me, here are some actual differences between the two countries. First, the capitals. As I stated all ready, the USA’s capital is Washington D.C. and Colombia’s capital is Bogota’. The religion of the USA is Christianity and Colombia’s religion is Roman. Some of the sports and fruits are different. Their people are different. Lastly, all of the animals are different as far as I know.
In conclusion, Colombia and the USA have their similarities. They also have their differences. The good thing is that even though the two countries are not completely the same, we know that we can always compare and contrast ourselves with another country. Hope you learned a lot about these two countries!

Cultural Diversity

MMM…What is a Sterotype? Well, I’m glad you asked. A stereotype is a held popular belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. The concepts of “stereotype” and “prejudice” are often confused with many other different meanings. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups based on some prior assumptions.

There are both positive and negative stereotypes, as with any other group. And as with all stereotypes, not all of these are warranted. Some of the negatives are small figures (which includes all parts of the body, including eyes), the inability to drive well, the tendency to become stressed easily, the propensity to be perfectionists to a fault, and of course the “Asian whore” reputation (which includes too much drinking as well as sex). Some of the positives are Asian women are generally known for being hardworking and ambitious, well-educated, respectful of traditions, and putting family before anything or anyone else. There are many more but this is all that comes to mind at the moment.

Colombia

Colombia has always been a small, but not too small country. This means that there are different kinds of schools. Some of those schools are even better than this school, Parks. I know that comes of no surprise though. They have religious schools, public schools, rural schools, and even countryside schools. Their schools are even different in hoew they move. The classes they switch from is traditional, interactive, and innovative classes. They must wear uniform no matter what the circunstances. Classes are way larger with 30-45 students. That’s it for now, get me next time.
